LN Metals International Ltd is a specialist in the trade of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals, ores concentrates, residues and by products.

Background and History

LN Metals International Ltd (LN) is a UK-incorporated private limited company established in 1998.

Following the raising of new capital from RMB Resources Limited in September 2002, LN has developed into a multi product trading operation, administered from its city of London headquarters.

RMB Resources Limited, the resource-financing arm of Rand Merchant Bank (RMB), currently own 45% of the issued share capital of the Company.

RMB is one of Africa's leading natural resource financiers, providing innovative solutions to companies operating in the mining, oil, gas and energy sectors. RMB's shareholding in LN has generated a number of business opportunities where the two organisations work together, delivering expert advice to client projects from both the trading and financial perspective. This relationship underlines the synergies between a financial institution and a metal market practitioner.

On 31st October 2007 Louis Dreyfus, the Swiss based trading Company, acquired a stake in the Company which represents 25% of the issued share capital.

Louis Dreyfus is one of the world's oldest and largest traders of soft commodities and energy and has expanded its operation into the metals markets with a key focus on the trading of raw materials and the acquisition of physical assets.

The remaining shareholding is owned by the senior management and employees.

LN operates a network of representative offices and agents throughout the world, including North and South America, the Indian subcontinent, China, the Pacific Rim markets and Australia. Currently the group directly employs thirty people at its UK headquarters and outlying offices.

Fields of activity

LN's core business is the international physical merchant trade in Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals.

The Company is also involved in the trade of base metal concentrates and handles regularly part-refined or part-processed products such as bullion, blister and alloys.

Further downstream, LN trades "added-value" products such as rod and tubing, specification alloys for casting and primary alloys for the automobile industry.

LN also handles various types of production residues and by-products such as anode slimes, filter cakes, drosses and filter dusts, and most major commercial grades of non-ferrous scrap for secondary smelters and foundries.

Please see Products for full list of metals traded.

Extended product offering

LN views the merchant's role today as a service industry where the merchant works to effectively provide outsourcing expertise to clients, who have neither the time, or the personnel to provide such facilities in house. These services include logistics, capital and risk management.

Geographical Coverage

LN's business covers most areas of the globe, but in particular Europe, CIS countries, Middle East, Africa, South America and Far East.

LN is committed to increased business development in Central and Eastern Europe, with offices in Brussels and Belgrade, as well as in Central Asia, and is an important participant in the ferrous and non-ferrous trade in this area.
